Rolly Romero floors Ryan Garcia – and takes over the fight

Romero entered the ring as a heavy underdog but left it a clear winner, dropping Ryan Garcia with a double left-hook in the second round and maintaining control with aggressive pressure and a high guard throughout.

Garcia, fighting for the first time since a drug suspension and a year of outside the ring distractions, looked hesitant and disconnected. He landed just 54 punches over 12 rounds, one of the lowest totals ever recorded by CompuBox in a full-length bout.

Romero’s early knockdown set the tone and stunned the crowd. From there, he outworked Garcia and stayed one step ahead, avoiding big counters and banking rounds with smart positioning and tight combinations.

Devin Haney wins again – but fails to excite

Devin Haney kept his undefeated record intact with a one-sided decision over José Ramírez, but the crowd in Times Square voiced its displeasure throughout.

Despite landing the cleaner shots and completely nullifying Ramírez’s offense, Haney chose to stick and move rather than engage, drawing boos and criticism from commentators and fans alike. With meme’s appearing online already of Haney moving around the ring instead of boxing.

Punch Stats:

  • Haney: 70 of 224 punches landed
  • Ramírez: 40 of 279 punches landed

The win keeps Haney’s ambitions alive at super lightweight, but many are questioning whether his style is hurting his drawing power.
