Josh Padley defends his EBU European super-featherweight title against Aqib Fiaz at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena on Saturday, June 6, 2026, with main event ringwalks expected around 10pm BST. Padley, 18-1, 6 KOs, meets fellow Brit Fiaz, 14-1, 2 KOs, over 12 rounds live on DAZN.

Two years ago Padley was still working full-time as an electrician and boxing on small-hall shows. Then came the call to face Mark Chamberlain at Wembley on the Joshua-Dubois card, an upset decision win, and a four-days-notice world title shot against Shakur Stevenson in Riyadh. Although Stevenson stopped him, the Armthorpe man left Saudi Arabia with his reputation enhanced.

Fiaz, from Oldham and trained by Jamie Moore, has travelled a quieter road since his only defeat. The pair also share a common opponent in Reece Bellotti: Padley outpointed him last October, while Bellotti stopped Fiaz back in 2023.

Padley only landed top billing after injuries to Dalton Smith and then Galal Yafai reshuffled the card, but he insists nothing about his job has changed. “The fight hasn’t changed and I don’t feel any more pressure, I am going in there to do what I need to do,” he told The Star. A win keeps the Yorkshireman moving back towards world level, having sat at No.14 with the WBC and inside the WBA’s top 10 at super-featherweight as of late May 2026.

The fight takes place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, with the bill promoted by Matchroom and shown worldwide on DAZN. Matchroom lists its live fight night schedule for 17.00 BST, with the card building towards a 12-round European title main event later in the evening.

Matchroom kept the show together after two world title main events fell through, and the supporting card stayed largely intact. Fiaz enters at 14-1, 2 KOs and has rebuilt since the Bellotti defeat, with this fight marking his biggest opportunity since moving back into European title contention.

Our prediction

Padley has shown a healthy respect for the challenger. “He is a good fighter and a good operator who has only had one loss and has bounced back since then,” he told The Star, and the champion has reportedly banked a full 10-week camp for this defence rather than the short-notice scrambles that defined his rise.

Split Decision backs Padley to win by late stoppage or wide decision, rounds 9-12, as his cleaner punching and timing wear Fiaz down over the championship distance. That said, Fiaz is no padded record: he is younger, naturally busier and fighting for the biggest belt of his life, and a fast start from the Oldham man could drag Padley into exactly the kind of scrap he wants to avoid.

Padley vs Fiaz odds

Padley goes in as a clear favourite with UK bookmakers, which fits a home European champion on a three-fight winning run against a challenger stepping back down a division.
