Six months ago, Nathaniel Collins and Cristobal Lorente left Braehead Arena without a winner. Now, the rematch fight week has finally arrived.

Collins (17-0-1, 8 KOs) gets his chance to settle it on home soil once more. Queensberry is presenting the fight as a final eliminator for the WBC featherweight world championship. Either way, the winner moves closer to a world title shot at featherweight and into contention for a clash with Bruce Carrington.

Lorente (20-0-3, 8 KOs), from Barcelona, arrives as the defending European featherweight champion and the man who left Scotland with his belt intact last time. He first won the European title in March 2023, regained it in July 2024, and most recently defended it in a split draw against Ruben Gil before returning for this rematch.

Undercard

What has been said?

Collins set the tone at the launch press conference when he said: “I’m fully ready for whatever comes.”

Lorente was also direct in his assessment of the first bout, admitting: “I had a terrible performance last time.” The Spaniard believes he can apply more pressure in the rematch and leave less room for debate on the scorecards.

Promoter Frank Warren said: “The first fight was a cracker, so there was absolutely no hesitation in making the rematch. It was an unsatisfactory finish for the two fighters, but everyone watching was treated to a tremendous contest. It was close and compelling, and I wouldn’t expect the second fight to be much different.”

Collins vs Lorente Stats

In their first meeting, both men showed they were willing to work. Lorente held the edge in volume, throwing 688 punches to Collins’ 597, and that output carried over to the power shots too.

Lorente letting 420 power punches go compared to 375 from Collins.

Landing numbers were tight across the board, though: Collins connected with 212 of his total shots versus 206 for Lorente, while Lorente held a slim advantage in power punches landed at 156 to Collins’ 150.

The stats paint a picture of two evenly matched fighters who both came to fight, and with a rematch on the horizon, expect fireworks again.
