Tomorrow Moses Itauma is set to meet Dillian Whyte, both ready to ignite the already booming heavyweight scene on Saturday 16 August at Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena. With the refreshingly fan-friendly time in Saudi Arabia the DAZN pay-per-view broadcast is due to begin at 17:00 BST, with ring walks for the main event pencilled in for around 22:30 BST.
This fight marks the biggest step yet for Britain’s 20-year-old phenom. A true crossroads contest: Itauma, unbeaten in 12 with 10 stoppages, is fast-tracked toward heavyweight superstardom after blasting out Mike Balogun in May and Demsey McKean last December. Whyte, 37, the former interim WBC title-holder, returned from injury to halt Ebenezer Tetteh late last year and is desperate for one last world-level run. His 3 losses only coming from AJ, Povetkin and Fury, the best of the best, if Itauma can stop Whyte he would add his name to a very small but strong list of heavyweights who could stop the body snatcher and would cement his stake in the top 10 heavyweight rankings.
Lennox Lewis has dubbed Itauma “the next coming” of the division, predicting that a victory propels the Kent southpaw straight into the fractured post-Usyk title picture. Even with his excellency Turki Al-Sheikh, calling for Ituama to fight Uysk on X (https://x.com/Turki_alalshikh/status/1946688413459222649) . Frank Warren agrees, but warns that Whyte’s grit and experience make this “a fascinating one… nobody gets an easy night with Dillian.”
For Whyte, the bout offers redemption after withdrawals and a finger injury cost him dates earlier this year. “People think I’m crazy, but I’d rather take a risk and fail than sit still,” he said.

Who will win Itauma v Whyte?
- Power vs Pressure:
Itauma’s left hand carries blinding speed and concussive power. Whyte’s trademark left-hook counters offer a danger the teenager has never faced. - Youth vs Miles on the Clock:
At 19, Itauma is fresh, ambitious and injury-free. Whyte, 37, has absorbed punishment against the likes of Joshua and Tyson Fury, yet his experience in deep water is unrivalled. - Southpaw Angles:
The southpaw stance has historically troubled Whyte. How he sets his feet against Itauma’s angles will dictate the early rounds. - Time out the ring:
Whyte has boxed only twice since 2022, while Itauma has stayed active every few months.
Predictions and Expert Insights into the Itauma Vs Whyte fight:
- Lennox Lewis: “Itauma is the next coming… he can dominate if he keeps learning.”
- Frank Warren: “Moses has the potential to be one of the greats – but Dillian still believes he has a world title in him.”
- Dillian Whyte: “Everyone’s scared of him… I take the fights no one wants. Beat Itauma and I’m right back where I belong.”
- Bookmakers make Itauma a strong favourite, yet seasoned observers warn that Whyte’s left-hook counter remains live over 12 rounds.
What Comes Next for Itauma:
- If Itauma wins: Expect Queensberry to push for a WBO mandatory or a lucrative December showdown on the next Riyadh Season card – possibly against the Hrgovic -Adeleye winner and if the fight between Usyk v Parker is made for December it would be a stellar co-main event. Check out the boxing schedule here to see where a fight could fit in.
What Comes Next for Whyte:
- If Whyte upsets the odds: Talk of rematches with Itauma would be first then rematches with Anthony Joshua could resurface, while a vacant-title shot could materialise once the belts scatter. For Whyte, defeat likely ends his title ambitions, but probably not his career.
Either outcome reshuffles the heavyweight deck in a post-Usyk landscape desperate for fresh fighters.
