Bivol vs Eifert announced for the 30th May

Updated 31 March, 2026, 15:00 BST

Dmitry Bivol (24-1, 12 KOs) defends his WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring magazine light heavyweight titles against IBF mandatory challenger Michael Eifert (13-1, 5 KOs) on Friday 30 May at Central Stadium in Yekaterinburg, Russia, promoted by RCC Promotions.

Bivol returns after more than 15 months out following back surgery, while Eifert finally gets the title shot he has waited three years to receive. UK ringwalks are expected in the early evening BST, with broadcast details still to be confirmed.

Bivol is one of only two men to have beaten a reigning undisputed champion in the four-belt era, having defeated both Canelo Alvarez at super-middleweight and Artur Beterbiev at light heavyweight.

That is the company Eifert is walking into. But the German arrives with a mindset that tells you he is not here to make up the numbers.

Speaking after the IBF finally set a firm deadline for Bivol, Eifert said he had used the long wait to develop as a fighter and that he was ready to “shock the world.” Whether he has the tools to back that up against an operator of Bivol’s calibre is the central question of this fight.

The Split Decision’s Prediction

The only X-factor is Bivol’s back and the layoff. If the surgery recovery has gone well and he moves freely, this should be controlled and clinical from round one. If there are lingering physical issues, Eifert’s volume could make the middle rounds competitive. Even in that scenario, Bivol’s ring IQ and championship experience should carry him comfortably to the final bell.

Split Decision backs Bivol to win by unanimous decision.
