Fisher vs Allen ended in a dramatic Round 5 TKO, handing Fisher his first professional defeat and vaulting Allen back into the domestic heavyweight picture. Saturday’s rematch produced nonstop action that climaxed with Allen detonating a left-hook–right-uppercut combo that left “The Romford Bull” face-down on the canvas, as the bell rang and the towel was thrown.
Official result of Fisher V Allen 2 : Dave Allen won by TKO, End of Round 5 – referee Mark Lyson waved it off.
Main Event – Allen vs Fisher 2
Fisher opened behind a quick jab, using his lighter weight to move around the ring and out box Allen. Most critics had Fisher up on the cards until the 5th. Dave Allen came in significantly heavier than Johnny Fisher, leaning into the bulk that powered his body attacks. The Doncaster man was closing distance and ripping body shots that slowed Fisher’s footwork. Allen exploded with a short left hook followed by a crushing right uppercut that sent Fisher crashing forward. The towel came in simultaneously with Lyson’s stoppage call. Ringside medics tended to Fisher, receiving oxygen in the ring, who recovered quickly.
Reaction’s
- Fans: Social media buzzed with shock at the emphatic finish and renewed calls for Allen’s next fight to be a domestic title shot, but this will have to come within the year as a seasoned fighter who is 33, needs his shot at the title sooner rather than later.
- Promoter Eddie Hearn: “Dave’s power and resilience make him a fan favourite – tonight he shook up the British heavyweight rankings.”
Fisher statement: Fisher posted on Instagram that he would “learn, rebuild and come back stronger.” Which at his age with the correct coach who gets him moving he is more than capable of doing so. This is not a AJ glass chin story, Fisher who was knocked down in round 5 of the first fight, reacted like a novice, Saturday’s fisher got up and wasn’t scared to keep on fighting showing his training had worked for taking the bigger hits, showing his potential for the hevayweight division.
What’s next for Fisher and Allen?
- Dave Allen next fight: A showdown with British champion Fabio Wardley or a lucrative trilogy with Fisher could headline late-summer cards, Eddie Hearn has already stated there was a rematch clause, but Dave Allen said the fight is not in Fishers interested and as a friend he wouldn’t let him take it, which I agree with.
- Johnny Fisher rematch: Team Fisher hinted at exercising a rematch clause after rebuilding with a tune-up bout. He did win the first fight leaving it a 1-1 between the pair.
