Adam Azim vs Steve Claggett takes place this weekend on Saturday, 30 May 2026 at OVO Arena Wembley in London. The fight airs live on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in the UK, with main event ringwalks expected around 9:00pm to 9:30pm BST. The Slough fighter has not boxed since stopping Kurt Scoby in the 12th round at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last November, a six-month layoff stretched by the collapse of his planned January date with Gustavo Lemos. Both fighters picked up hand injuries in that camp, and Lemos’s later withdrawal scrapped the rescheduled bout entirely.

Claggett, a 36-year-old from Calgary with 17 years as a professional, accepted the call as a replacement. Since dropping a wide decision to Teofimo Lopez for the WBO world title in June 2024, the Dragon has stopped Eduardo Estela and Alejandro Frias Rodriguez on Montreal casino cards.

“This is another big step forward for me on my journey to a world title,” Azim said in the BOXXER announcement. “I’m excited to be headlining live on the BBC in front of a massive audience.” As of May 2026, Azim is ranked No.9 by the WBC, No.7 by both the IBF and the WBO, and No.9 by The Ring at super-lightweight, so a clean win keeps him firmly in the world-title conversation.

When is Azim vs Claggett? UK time and date

After the January cancellation, the fight now takes place at the OVO Arena Wembley on Saturday, 30 May 2026, with BOXXER presenting the card as Betfred Fight Night live on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer. Equally, it is Azim’s first fight under BOXXER’s new free-to-air deal with the BBC and his first outing of 2026.

Azim vs Claggett Full Fight Card

BOXXER has confirmed four televised bouts so far. Francesca Hennessy takes the chief support spot against Italy’s Aurora De Persio, with Albanian-British cruiserweight Juergen Uldedaj challenging Muhsin Cason for the IBO World Cruiserweight title also on the main broadcast. Ghanaian-British welterweight champion Joel Kodua defends his English title against unbeaten Will Harrison earlier in the card.

This is the confirmed card so far. The section will be updated once BOXXER announces the rest of the supporting bouts.

The card airs live and free-to-air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in the UK, with no PPV charge and no DAZN subscription required. That is a genuine selling point for the show, since most major British boxing has sat behind DAZN, Sky Sports or PPV paywalls in recent years.

BBC iPlayer streams the same broadcast at no cost on web, mobile and connected TVs, provided you hold a TV licence. International viewers should check their regional broadcaster, since BOXXER’s BBC deal is UK-only.

Azim vs Claggett Tale of the Tape and Breakdown

Adam Azim recent form

Steve Claggett recent form

Azim carries a two-inch height advantage and an inch on the reach, although the bigger gap is in mileage: 80 rounds across 14 fights for Azim, against Claggett’s 294 over 50.

Claggett’s career knockout rate is genuinely high, yet nearly all those stoppages came against domestic Canadian opposition, and his only world-level fight ended on a wide unanimous decision.

Our prediction

“Steve Claggett is a tough, experienced fighter, he gave Teofimo Lopez his toughest fight, and that’s exactly the kind of challenge I want,” Azim told the BBC. By contrast, Claggett’s response in the BOXXER release was equally clear: “I’ve spent my entire life working towards an opportunity like this. I’m grateful and excited to be coming to the UK to fight Adam Azim.” Yet the trouble for Claggett is that the Lopez performance, while game, was a wide unanimous decision, and his recent stoppage form has come on the regional circuit against opposition several levels below Azim.

Tactically, Azim should control the centre of the ring with his jab and pick his moments, since Claggett tends to walk forward behind a high guard and trade in close. That suits Azim’s body work, and Claggett’s age plus the wear of nearly 300 professional rounds ought to show when the pace lifts. However, Azim cannot get careless inside, because Claggett does carry power and is durable enough to drag a younger man into rough rounds.

Split Decision backs Azim to win by stoppage, rounds 7 to 9. The Canadian’s chin and engine will keep him competitive early, although the accumulated body work and Azim’s hand speed should force a late finish. That said, Claggett is exactly the kind of stubborn pro who can give a prospect the worst kind of education if the favourite drops a beat.

Azim vs Claggett odds

Azim is the heavy favourite at approximately 1/9 with most UK bookmakers, with Claggett out at around 5/1. At 1/9, Azim’s implied probability is around 90%. At 5/1, Claggett’s implied probability is around 17%, before bookmaker margin.
